The Mick

November 23, 2011

If this doesn’t up your sense of nostalgia, I’m not sure what will.  Guerillalit artist Tim Townsley has painted the image of a vintage Mickey Mantle baseball card.  It’s currently on display in Bergamot Station at the James Gray gallery (in Santa Monica).  Check it out, and the rest of the pieces, if you’ve got the time.  In the meanwhile, here’s the image.

i recall, just Sunday nite, when the Giants football team lost in a terrible way to the Eagles…i missed baseball..
as the maple, ash, oak leaves begin to fall and Thanksgiving two days away, i miss baseball.
there is a time when the season, any season ends..we’ve had enough and relived, glad, nostalgic it ends..but only for a short time
time passes through baseball and the people that give it life.
    what a fine painting…
for a moment, i forgot about the loss and began thinking of 1956.
    what a fine painting.
